Isolation Isolators In order to ensure the safe maintenance of equipment and machinery, it is vital to provide a means whereby the electrical supply to both the motor and its associated control system can be switched off. This isolation function may be achieved using specific switching devices such as isolators or circuit breakers or by using the isolation function incorporated within multifuction devices. It should be noted that wherever a system comprises a large number of motor starters it is not always necessary to provide an isolator for each starter. However a main isolator must always be installed to provide general isolation from the main incoming electrical supply.
